Wibar // door design

PROCESS

In June 2022, I painted a toilet door at Club Wibar in Leiden as part of their art market festival. In the weeks leading up to the event, I sketched several designs on my tablet. After deciding on the final concept, I projected the design onto the door using a beamer before painting it.

While enjoying the event, I began the actual painting process. I first filled in the background and then gradually worked my way to the foreground, finishing with the face and the black surfaces.

DESIGN

The design is both vibrant and dark, inspired by the atmosphere of nightlife. I chose orange to create a warm, energetic feeling. Similar to a summer evening at a festival. The contrast between the vivid orange and the greyscale tones enhances the overall depth, making the eyes and background stand out even more.
